Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath has extended Deepavali greetings to Sri Lankans and people around the world, highlighting the festival’s message of unity, humanity, peace and hope.
In his Deepavali message, the Minister said the festival was not limited to one country, nation or religion, but celebrated the triumph of light and the goodness of humanity.
He said the lamps lit in temples in Jaffna, homes in Colombo and residences of Sri Lankans living overseas, including in Dubai, London and Toronto, reflected a shared spirit and connection.
The Minister also acknowledged the contribution of Sri Lankans living abroad, saying their hard work and dedication continued to strengthen the country while their love for their motherland remained strong.
He expressed hope that the lamps lit during Deepavali would dispel darkness not only from homes but also from the hearts of neighbours and communities across the world.
Herath wished all Sri Lankans and people around the world a blessed Deepavali filled with light, peace and hope.
