Police investigations have revealed that the gunman and the motorcyclist who carried out the murder of Shriran Kosala de Silva, the manager of the Singer showroom in Ambalangoda, had coordinated the killing while staying at a house said to belong to a former senior police officer.

The house is reportedly located in the Ankumbura area of Kandy.

It is also reported that the suspects had fled by the time police teams arrived at the premises.

The manager of the Ambalangoda showroom was shot dead inside the premises on 22 December.

Several teams conducted investigations into the incident, during which the Police Special Task Force arrested two persons in Kiribathgoda and Makola in recent days.

The suspects stated that they had provided transport facilities for the gunmen to escape and had coordinated their movements.

It was also revealed that this had been done on the instructions of Karandeniya Sudda, who is currently hiding overseas.

Subsequently, in a joint investigation by the Police Special Task Force and the Galle Divisional Crimes Unit, three more suspects were arrested, including the woman who had supplied the firearms used in the murder.

She was arrested in the Hikkaduwa area along with the pistol and revolver allegedly used in the killing.

Interrogations of the arrested suspects have revealed that the gunman and the motorcyclist had arrived at the relevant luxury house in Ankumbura, Kandy, on the 7th and stayed there until the 21st.

It is further reported that after coming to Ambalangoda on 22 December and committing the murder, the two suspects fled back to the same luxury house in Ankumbura, Kandy.

When police carried out a search operation at the house, the gunman and the motorcyclist had already fled.

Police investigations have revealed that the murder was carried out jointly by the criminals known as Kosgoda Suji, Gotha Asanka, Karandeniya Sudda, his brother Karandeniya Raju, Dola and Dasun Manawadu.

However, police state that the motive for the murder was the close association maintained by the victim, Kosala, with Uragaha Michael, the main rival of Kosgoda Suji.
