NZ Herald, brought to you by NZME Publishing Limited (the ‘ Promoter ’), together with Inspiring Vacations Pty Ltd (the ‘ Sponsor ’), is giving you the chance to win a 12-day trip for two to Sri Lanka valued at NZD $10,000 (the ‘ Promotion ’).
The competition opens at 9am on Monday 20 July 2026 and closes at 3pm on Friday 31 July 2026 (the ‘ Promotion Period ’).
To enter the Promotion, you must complete all mandatory fields on the competition entry form at NZ Herald Travel Readers’ Choice Awards 2026: Vote for your favourite destinations and experiences - NZ Herald during the Promotion Period, including your first name, last name, email address, and phone number. You must also agree to the Promotion’s terms and conditions and be at least 18 years of age and a New Zealand resident to enter. You may only enter the Promotion once during the Promotion Period. All duplicate entries will be void.
All eligible entrants will go into the draw to win. One winner will be randomly selected by the Promoter after the competition closes.
The winner will be notified by email or phone using the contact details provided at the time of entry.
By opting to tick one (or more) of the future communication tick boxes on the Promotion entry form, you confirm you have given permission for your personal information to be stored by your selected choice/s and to receive future communications from your selected choice/s. Selecting none, one, or more will have no influence over the prize draw.
If you opt in to receive information and offers from the Sponsor, the Promoter will pass this data securely to the Sponsor at the end of the Promotion Period.

Your Agreement to Promoter and Sponsor Terms
By entering this Promotion, you accept these Specific Competition Terms, the Standard Promotion or Competition Rules below, the Promoter’s website Terms of Access and Privacy Policy, and the Sponsor’s Terms And Conditions .

The Winner must book their tour within two weeks of prize acceptance.
The Prize winner may choose one of the following departure dates only: 6 February 2027 or 1 May 2027.
Redemption is complete once Winner has booked their tour and any further additions to tour package including transfers and optional tours added after booking will not be included in prize redemption.
The Prize winner may invite one travel companion. The Prize is based on two people sharing a twin or double room throughout the tour (though bedding configuration is not guaranteed).
The Sponsor will arrange the flights, travel arrangements, and accommodation included in the Prize (subject to availability at the time of booking) on behalf of the Prize winner and their nominated travel companion.
By accepting the Prize, both the Prize winner and their nominated travel companion agree to be bound by the Sponsor’s Terms & Conditions , including all booking, cancellation, and participation requirements. It is the responsibility of the Prize winner to ensure that their travel companion is aware of and complies with these terms.
The winner and their travel companion will be responsible for any additional costs that are not identified in the inclusions section of the detailed itinerary. Transportation to and from the airport and to the itinerary starting point, any optional upgrades, meals and other excluded expenses are payable by the prize winner.
The Prize is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either expressed or implied by the Promoter. A Winner may not substitute, assign, exchange, transfer or redeem the Prize for cash.
The Prize winner must confirm and liaise on the booking of their tour directly with the Sponsor within 14 days of being notified that they have won. This includes coordinating with their nominated travel companion to meet all booking requirements.
If the Prize (or any part of it) is or becomes unavailable, the Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute the Prize (or any part of it) with an alternative of equal value and/or specification.
All communication regarding bookings for the awarded tour will be sent via email. It is the Prize winner’s responsibility to ensure that both their own and their travel companion’s contact details are accurate and up to date, and to promptly notify the Sponsor of any changes.
If the Prize winner is unable to proceed with the booking for any reason, or unable to satisfy all terms and conditions referred to in this document, the Sponsor’s Terms & Conditions apply. The Sponsor also reserves the right to cancel the Prize in the instance of a force majeure event (as described in the Sponsor’s Terms & Conditions) .
Force majeure means the occurrence of an event that is beyond Inspiring Vacation’s reasonable control and which could not have been reasonably prevented by Inspiring Vacations, which includes, but is not limited to:
war, armed conflict, criminal damage, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity or the threat of any such acts;
natural disasters (including but not limited to flooding, fire, earthquake, landslide, adverse weather conditions, high or low water levels;
nuclear or other industrial accident causing environmental pollution or contamination;
epidemics, pandemics, quarantines or any other public health crisis, including COVID-19 and its variants; or
change in law, meaning enactment, amendment (including repeal) in the law or administration of any law in New Zealand or any jurisdiction or territory relevant to the booking contract, which includes changes in statute, regulation determination, by-law, declaration, licence and the common law as applicable from time to time, including but not limited to travel or movement restrictions imposed by state, federal or foreign governments.
In either case, no credit, refund, compensation, or change of tour date will be offered to the Prize winner or their travel companion, regardless of the circumstances.
The Promoter’s involvement in the fulfilment of the Prize ends once the Prize winner has booked their tour directly with the Sponsor. From that point onward, the Promoter will not arrange or provide anything further in relation to the Prize or otherwise. However, the Promoter may continue to engage with the Prize winner and their travel companion for the Promoter’s promotional purposes (as specified further below).
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not responsible for the fulfilment, availability, or delivery of the Prize and accepts no liability for any changes, cancellations, or issues arising from it. These remain the sole responsibility of the Sponsor.
The collection and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this promotion will be handled in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy.
These Specific Competition Terms (including the Promotion Period) and the Standard Promotion or Competition Rules may be amended, and the Promotion may be terminated, at any time by the Promoter.
The Promoter’s decisions on all entry and Promotion matters are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
If, for any reason, any aspect of this Promotion cannot proceed as planned (including but not limited to computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical malfunction, or any cause beyond the Promoter’s control), the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Promotion (without compensation to the Prize winner or their travel companion). This includes but is not limited to the right to invalidate any affected entries, or to suspend or amend the Prize.
The Promoter reserves the right to conduct a redraw if a selected Prize winner is unable to proceed with the booking for any reason, or unable to satisfy all terms and conditions referred to in this document. In such cases, the original Prize winner will forfeit the Prize, and a new winner may be selected at the Promoter’s discretion. No compensation will be payable to the original Prize winner (or their travel companion).
By accepting and participating in the Prize, the Prize winner and their travel companion agree to cooperate with all editorial and promotional activities requested by the Promoter. This may include, but is not limited to, participating in a livestream on Herald NOW, and participating in any other interviews, audio recordings, photography, and video recordings requested by the Promoter in connection with the Prize. The Prize winner must provide the Promoter with a minimum of five (5) pieces of on-tour imagery and footage for promotional use. The Prize winner and their travel companion grant the Promoter a perpetual, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to use any commentary, images, and video content provided or captured in connection with the Prize in all media formats worldwide, including social media platforms. No compensation will be payable to the Prize winner (or their companion) for such use.
STANDARD PROMOTION OR COMPETITION RULES
‘NZME’ means all companies in the NZME Group including but not limited to NZME Holdings Limited, NZME Publishing Limited, NZME Radio Limited, OneRoof Limited and all brands and operating companies controlled by or associated with those entities.
‘ Immediate Families ’ include spouses, grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren, whether by marriage, past marriages, remarriage, adoption, co-habitation or other family extension.
