Sri Lanka Cricket offers free entry for India Test series.

First Test starts August 15 in Galle, second in Colombo.

India lead WTC standings at fifth, Sri Lanka placed sixth.

Cricket fans across Sri Lanka can now watch top-tier Test cricket without spending a rupee, as Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed on Friday that public entry will be completely free for the upcoming two-match Test series against India.

The series kicks off on August 15 at the iconic Galle International Stadium, before the action shifts to the SSC ground in Colombo for the second Test, scheduled to run from August 23 to 27.

It is an initiative taken by the board to promote the sport among young aspirants hoping to pursue the sport.

"Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) wishes to announce that public admission to the upcoming Test Series between Sri Lanka and India will be free of charge thus providing cricket fans with an excellent opportunity to witness world-class Test cricket," SLC said in a release.

"Sri Lanka Cricket warmly invites cricket enthusiasts, young aspiring cricketers, families, and sports fans from across the country to take advantage of this initiative and experience the excitement of international Test cricket between Sri Lanka and India."

History strongly favours India heading into this series, given their commanding performance during their last Test tour of the island back in 2017, when they swept the three-match series 3-0.

That campaign began with a 304-run victory in Galle, followed by an innings-and-53-run win in Colombo, before India completed a clean sweep with an emphatic innings-and-171-run triumph in Pallekele.

Overall, India have won nine out of the 24 Tests they have played in the island country, lost seven, and drawn eight.
