(0:04) Hutch is a telecom service provider in Sri Lanka. (0:07) We provide the 4G broadband services and 2G services to 95% of Sri Lankans. (0:11) We have been the fastest growing broadband service provider in Sri Lanka for the last (0:15) two years.
(0:17) Processing large amounts of data is not easy. (0:20) So you need to select the right technology. (0:23) So we have been going through different database technologies over the time.
(0:27) We had on-prem system, we kept investing year on year, but we couldn't keep up with the (0:33) demand that we had. (0:34) So we were looking for a system which is reliable, easy to use, and secure and trusted. (0:41) So this is why we selected Snowflake.
(0:45) We had few business objectives, the major one was how to reduce our loading time. (0:51) Why we need to have data on the table when the user comes to the office by 7am. (0:59) Data sharing and data collaboration is one of the key aspects in the Snowflake platform.

(1:42) Our systems, with the new migration, we are not worried about disaster recovery. (1:49) System is 100% available.
(1:52) Previously we had integrity issues, now we don't have integrity issues. (1:57) After the Snowflake's migration, we are having a wonderful journey. (2:02) As operations head, I'd like to say that my burden has gone down from 100% to 0%.
